Locomotive Nameplate Auction

The sale on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd June shall including five nameplates on the second day of the sale and include:

 

“DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTER” ex London, Midland and Scottish Railway, 4-6-2 Pacific Class locomotive built at Crewe in 1938, numbered 6225, It was withdrawn from service in 1964 and scrapped, 19 x 220cm, (the companion nameplate is currently held at the National Railway Museum in York). Est. £10,000-15,000.

 

“GEOFFREY CHAUCER” ex British Rail, 4-6-2 Britannia Class locomotive built at Crewe in 1951, numbered 70002, withdrawn from service in 1967. 15 x 154cm. Est. £5000-7000.

 

“STACKPOLE COURT” ex Great Western Railways, Saint Class built at Swindon in 1912 and numbered 2948, first shed Canton, last shed Bath Road, withdrawn from service in 1951, 176cm wide. Est. £2000-3000.

 

“THIRLSTAINE HALL” ex Great Western Railways, 4-6-0 Hall Class locomotive  built at Swindon November 1944, numbered 6965, withdrawn from service in October 1965, scrapped by J Cashmore, Newport, 194cm wide. Est. £2000-3000.

 

DEFENCE” ex London, Midland and Scottish Railway 4-6-0 locomotive, built at Crewe in 1936 and numbered 45722, withdrawn from service November 1962, white painted numbers to the reverse, 1933/?0/63, 11 x 74Cm. Est. £1500-2000.
