The Motley Crew are looking forward to the autumn and winter seasons with an expanding team, and freshly repainted staff toilets with no expense spared. Items already consigned for sale are the usual mixture of eclectic of traditional.
On the traditional side a beautiful Orkney chair will come under the hammer in our sale on the 8/9th September. This iconic piece of Scottish vernacular furniture has a woven straw back and seat, the arm rests terminated in a scroll end which was believed to be a request from Liberty’s who retailed these chairs in the early 20th century, the estimate is £400-600.
Another traditional lot is an Art Deco period figural table lamp, after Dominique Alonzo, (French, fl.1905-1930), modelled as a maiden with broken pitcher, raised on a polished octagonal marble base, and is expected to fetch in the region of £150-250.
One for the railway enthusiasts is the 3 1/2ins gauge live steam 0-4-0 tank locomotive in GWR livery, with wagon mounted on a display base which should realise between £300-500. Together with other 00/H0 locomotives and trackside accessories.
Stepping back in time there is a great opportunity to buy an early Christmas present in the form of a Victorian silver snuff box of serpentine outline with engraved lake scene, made by the very collectable silversmith Nathaniel Mills, the estimate is £500-600.
For any chess players out there we have over ten sets on offer. They range from African examples, porcelain frog set, and a modern pottery set modelled as ghouls, estimates vary from £60-80 up to £500-600. All very decorative and well worth looking at once the catalogue goes on line.
For a more contemporary look how about a Richard Godfrey (1949 – 2014) pottery triangular Jug, of tapered shape with loop handles, bracketed spout, with underglaze pattern to body, in blue, yellow and orange, signed to underside with incised signature, it’s a little different! estimate is £100-150.
There will also be the usual large Jewellery & Watch section with 300+ lots from delicate pendants to large gold chains.
